The information contained herein was compiled for the benefit of the students registered for the 2012 offering of the subject U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) training course held at and around Castle Rock, Washington (March 26-29, 2012) and the Cascades Volcano Observatory, Vancouver, Washington (morning, March 30, 2012). ***NOTE: Sunday, March 25, 2012 is considered a travel day to Castle Rock through Portland Airport (PDX)***
The instructional material for lectures (mostly as PowerPoint files) appears more-or-less in the order presented in the course. Several of these files are dated prior to 2012, but remain relevant for use at the course.
The selected references and supporting information contains an enormous volume of publications, technical memoranda, and other data sources all related to sediment. Much of the information has been published elsewhere by the USGS. Notable exceptions include most of the PowerPoint files; other selected unpublished USGS files: and information obtained from non-USGS sources.
